Wall Street Rises as Rate Cut Bets Strengthen; Housing, Airline Stocks Lag

The major European markets also ended the day mixed while the German DAX Index declined by 0.4 percent, the U.K.'s FTSE 100 Index and the French CAC 40 Index both crept up by 0.2 percent. In the bond market, treasuries gave back ground after moving notably higher over the past several sessions. Subsequently, the yield on the benchmark ten-year note, which moves opposite of its price, rose by 2.8 basis points to 4.04 percent.
